Kasargod, Apr 30: In an incident which occurred at Kumble in the district during the wee hours on Friday April 29, a thief who was in a hurry to escape from those chasing him, fell into a well. He was handed over to police later.
Two thieves had sneaked into the house of Ibrahim, a resident of Andoos Colony in Kumble. The family members heard the sound made by the thieves who were trying to break the front door open. Ibrahim's younger brother, and a neighbour chased the thieves who had abandoned their attempt and were fleeing. In spite of long search for the thieves, they failed to find them.
When returning, the duo heard shouts for help coming from inside a well. They peeped into the well and found that a thief had fallen into the well. Thereafter, the fire brigade and police were called. Fire brigade personnel, who came from Uppal, rescued the thief from inside the well. He was handed over to the police thereafter.
The policemen said that the accused belongs to Shivamogga district in Karnataka, adding that he worked as a cooly during the day and made burglary attempts at night.
