Kundapur, Apr 30: “In the modern education policy, only marks are given prominence. It is necessary to identify hidden talents among children and promote them. Schools should take on the important part which is to save and nurture art. It is commendable that Vakwady Gurukula Institute is encouraging art along with education,” said Jeethakamanandajee Maharaj Swamiji of Mangaluru Ramakrishna math.
He spoke after inaugurating and blessing the newly constructed art gallery 'Sadrashya' and unveiling the statue of Vivekananda at the school premises on Friday April 29.
“Creation of responsible citizens, teaching them humanity and increasing their mental capacity should be the main aim of education. Though modern day children are quick in thinking when compared to the previous generation, lack of confidence can still be seen in them. Students should develop the capacity and patience to judge between good and bad. The ideals of Swami Vivekananda, his personality, scientific thinking, sacrifice etc should be a model for the students,” he said.
Mangaluru MRPL corporate communications DGM Laxmi Kumaran, inaugurated the day long drawing competition 'Art Impact 2016'. Bandya Education Trust president B Appanna Hegde presided over the programme.
Art camp organizer Dinesh Holla, Bandya Education Trust's Bandya Subhaschandra Shetty and other elite were present. Joint director of the trust, Anupama Shetty welcomed the gathering. Raghavendra Amuji compered the programme. School principal Bhaskar Balachandrudu Naidu proposed the vote of thanks.
