M'luru: Yenepoya Medical College to hold asthma allergy camp from May 2

Mangaluru Apr 29: The department of respiratory medicine of Yenepoya Medical College will be conducting a camp on asthma allergy to mark World Asthma Day 2016 on May 3 said Dr Deepu, consultant pulmonologist and assistant professor of Yenepoya Medical college. He addressed a press meet here on Friday April 29.

He further said, "World Asthma Day is organised by GINA (Global Initiative for Asthma) an international body involved in the care of asthma in collaboration with healthcare groups and asthma educators, to raise awareness about asthma and to improve asthma care throughout the world under the theme 'You can control your asthma'. This theme coincides with GINA's campaign to reduce worldwide asthma hospitalizations by half. By educating people with asthma on how to control their symptoms, it is hoped that the incidents of severe asthma attacks will drop and so also the subsequent number of hospital visits. It also spreads the awareness of proper understanding and medication to control the disease."

Regarding the camp
The camp will be held at Yenepoya Medical College and Hospital, Deralakatte from May 2 to May 9 from 9 am to 1 pm. There will be no consultation fees. For asthma patients, tests will be availabe at free and discounted prices.

Dr Irfan consultant pulmonologist was present on the occasion.
