Mangaluru, Apr 25: BJP state president, B S Yeddyurappa, said that he fully spports MP, Nalin Kumar, in his fight against Yettinahole project, if it threatens to dry up Karnataka coast and does not benefit other districts. He promised to draw the attention of the government towards the issues concerning this project.
He was speaking after discussing pros and cons of Yettinhole project with office bearers of Netravarati Rakshana Samyukta Samiti, who met him during his visit on Saturday April 23.
Prof S G Mayya drew the attention of Yeddyurappa towards the fact that Yettinahole will never be able to generate 24 tmc of water as projected in the report. He said that the project, if implemented, will have serious repercussions on the ecology of western ghats. M G Hegde and Ramachandar Bkampady gave him details about the lacunae in the project report. MP, Nalin Kumar Kateel, Samiti president, Vijay Kuamar Shetty, Rajeev Anchan, Satyajit Suratkal, Shashiraj Shetty Kolambe and others were present.
Strangely, the Samyuka Samiti, which had declared a couple of days before that the protest like the one held in the presence of chief minister, Siddaramaiah, just during his visit would be held during the visit of everyone connected with the project, failed to hold any such protest during Yeddyurappa's visit.
