Nazara invests for stake in Mastermind Sports

Mumbai, Apr 21 (IANS): Indian mobile games publisher Nazara on Thrusday said it has invested for a 26 percent stake in London based mobile gaming studio, Mastermind Sports.

"Our investment in Mastermind Sports is to enable deeply engaged fans to have a real time social second screen experience and amplify the fun of watching matches with friends cutting across geographical constraints," said Nazara Games CEO Manish Agarwal.

However, the value of the investment was not revealed.

Founded by Tom McCall and Bengaluru-based entrepreneur Pratik Shah in 2014, Mastermind Sports creates social and interactive games which engage sports fans without any geographical constraints.

Nazara is planning to launch Mastermind Sports' developed CricBet game in India. CricBet is a predicting game which stimulates cricket fans to predict the outcome of future balls and overs and other events during a cricket match and earn virtual coins as points.

"There are eight prediction markets where one can predict the next boundary to be scored; guessing the number of runs off the next over, whether a batsman will score over 50 runs or not. With leader boards, levels, tournaments and a forum to interact with other fans," said Agarwal regarding CricBet.

Present in 41 countries, Mumbai-based Nazara publishes mobile games available on app stores like Google Play. It counts mobile service providers, handset manufacturers and the general public as its customers.
