Mangalore, Oct 12: The holy month of Ramzan, and with the end of the fasting on Eid-ul-Fitr to be celebrated by Muslim community on Saturday, October 13.  The Muslim community members here participated in the city police station-level peace committee meetings convened ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr. Muslim members made a gesture of good-well and brotherhood by offering packets of dry fruits to the members of the committee as well as the policemen at the city north police station here on Thursday, October 11.
 
N Satheesh Kumar, superintendent of police while appreciating the gesture of goodwill stated that it would go a long way in establishing peace in the region and fostering better understanding among people of various communities. According to the SP his department has organized such meetings in all police stations and the response has been very overwhelming. 
 
Further, according to the SP not only does this meet foster better relationships among the communities, the department he informed has mobilized additional police force to ensure peaceful conduct of the festival. In a run-up to ‘Eid’, seven platoons of Karnataka State Reserve Police for bandobast have been dispatched. Moreover additional 300 home guards to supplement the district police force during this festival season are expected, he added.
 
Even other senior police personnel’ appreciated the positive gesture of the members of Muslim Central Committee at the peace committee meeting organized at the city police stations. Buoyed by the unprecedented success of this meet, similar peace committee meetings are now being planned in other police stations in the circle, sources here informed.
