Mangalore, Oct 10:  As a part of nation-wide protest against the hike in prices of essential commodities, the Communist Party of India (CPI) taluk committee staged protest in front of Deputy Commissioner’s office on Tuesday October 9.

Addressing the agitators, former MLA B V Kakkillaya said that the union government has completely neglected the common minimum programme. Hence, the minorities, women and students have been pushed to miserable condition, he alleged.

The union government led by United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government has fully failed to control the hike in prices of essential commodities. 

On the other hand, the agricultural sector has failed to produce the required quantity of food grains. This contributes for the inefficiency of UPA government, he asserted.

At the same time he accused that LPG distributors are harassing the customers by not distributing LPG cylinders within the specific time. Hence, the customers are undergoing tremendous hardships owing to the delay in delivering LPG cylinders, he informed.

Earlier a rally was held from CPI office to DC's office. CPI leaders Chandappa Anchan, R D Soans, A Prabhakar Rao, B K Krishnappa, Praveen Kumar and others were present on this occasion.
