Tata Motors relies on new launches

Kolkata, April 11 (IANS): Tata Motors hopes to improve its share of the Indian passenger car market on the strength of new launches, a company official said on Monday.

"Currently, our market share is 5.6 percent of the overall Indian passenger car market. Last year, new launches led the growth in the industry," said S.N. Barman, vice president (sales and network) in passenger vehicle business unit said on the occasion of launching of a new hatchback here.

"We have now launched 'Tiago'; there will be three more launches in the next 12-18 months," he said.

"We hope our market share will improve with the launches of four new cars."

Tata Motors plans to increase its sales network in the Tier I and II cities that are contributing well to overall sales volumes in the domestic passenger car market.

"Pan India, we have 597 sales outlets across India and have planned to double the network in three years," Barman said.
