Mangalore, Oct 9: Nearly six chikungunya cases have been detected so far in Belalu village of Beltangady taluk and Kodimbadi, Kadaba, Renjaladi and Nooji Balthila villages of Puttur taluk. However, no such cases have been reported in Bantwal and Mangalore taluks, said district health and family welfare officer Dr H Jagannath.

Treatment centres have been opened in the taluks to give away medicines to the affected patients. Vehicles have also been provided to undertake fogging in the affected regions, he added.  Along with this several other steps have been taken under the senior medical offers of the respected taluks.  Already a district-level meet on the issue has been organized.  In Sullia, the medical officer has been directed to visited areas and provide medication through mobile health centres, said DHO Dr Jagannath.
