Mangalore, Oct 8:
Dalit Sangarsha Samiti (DSS), Ambedkarism, has decided to stage a protest urging fulfillment of all its demands on Monday November 5, said P Keshav, divisional convener, DSS (Ambedkarism) at press conference here on Monday October 8.

DSS appreciates the developmental view of Mangalore City Corporation (MCC). On the other hand it also condemns the double standards of the corporation which demolished petty shops belonging to poor, the convener informed.

Alleging the irregularities at the time of making the list of voters, the convener asserted that the list has dropped 40% of Dalits names. The samiti has urged the election commission to order the district administration to conduct a separate survey of Dalits and to make fresh list.

The dalits have been neglected completely during the tenure of the state coalition government. The positions of officials at district-level as well as taluk-level in the department of Social Welfare have been vacant, he explained. The scholarship for the year 2005-06 has not been issued, he added.

Anand Haleangadi, district convener, Sunder Naik, district organizing convener, Gopal S, convener, Suratkal  town and others were present at the press conference.
