Mangalore, Oct 5: The dream of the founder of Cheshire Home, Leonard Cheshire, must be realized. Leonard Cheshire compels one to realize the presence of God, said Dr Raghuveer C V, dean at KMC.
He was speaking on the occasion of the founder's day held at Cheshire Home at Suvarna Lane, near Father Muller Medical College here on Wednesday October 3.
Dr Raghuveer C V was the chief guest on this occasion.
Appreciating the efforts by the home, he said that youngsters should be motivated to pay their attention to social service besides their academics.
Exemplifying the jasmine cultivation undertaken at the home chiefly to keep the residents of the home occupied, he said that the cultivation not only makes the inmates occupied, self-sustaining, self-sufficient but also makes others to recognize their talents.
Terry Vaz, secretary, Cheshire Home, Shoba Shetty, joint secretary, Cheshire Home and Octavia Albuquerque, former president, Cheshire Home were present on the occasion.
Wilma Aranha, vice-president presided over the function, welcomed the gathering and presented an account of Cheshire Home for disabled.
