Bengaluru, Apr 2: Officials of criminal investigation department (CID), who have been trailing the leads they have got about the leakage of chemistry question paper of PU class, have become increasingly suspicious that Tumakuru could have been at the centre of this leakage racket. As per information, CID policemen have taken into custody principals of two private colleges at Tumakuru and four students on Friday. it is said that the CID policemen took these persons to Tilak Park police station at Tumakuru for questioning.
As per the current analysis undertaken by the special investigation team of CID, question papers were leaked at least at three centres. The handwritten question papers were leaked between 4 pm and 6 pm on Wednesday, before the question papers reached the treasuries, CID officials have found.
There is strong suspicion that more than making money, question paper leakage was aimed at sullying the image of some honest officials. Hand of some influential officials or subordinate staff in the department is suspected. The CID officials have now been ascertaining locations of mobile phones through which the question papers were sent using WhatsApp through mobile towers. One of the teams is solely pursuing this task, it is said. A team of policemen led by CID superintendent of police, Sirigowri, has camped at Tumakuru where a number of people are being questioned.
At the same time, it is gathered that many people who had sold question papers to students, have returned the money they collected. A person from the city, who had contacted students from Tumakuru with a promise to provide them question papers for Rs 2,000 each, reportedly repaid the money to his clients as the examination was cancelled. The CID has got information that many girl students too had bought these question papers.
