Udupi, Mar 29: In an incident reported from Chitpady here, a person's hand got severed reportedly after some people known to him pushed him onto the tracks in an effort to kill him on Sunday March 27.
Prakash Bangera (38) residing at Palekatte in Kodavoor near here lost the palm of his right hand in this incident. He also suffered injury to the back of his head.
In a complaint, Prakash said that four persons known to him, identified as Jitendra, Nitin, Nagesh and Shylendra had tried to kill him. "When I was on a visit to the home of my wife at Chitpady on Sunday evening, I received a call from Jitendra, who asked me to reach near the railway tracks at Chitpady Indiranagara. When I went there, I saw that the other three accused were also with Jitendra. They jostled me around, expressing anger at the fact that I was seeking repayment of money lent, and objecting to the way I talked over phone. They saw that a train was approaching the spot from the direction of Mangaluru. With the specific intention of killing me, they pushed me onto the tracks," he explained.
The policemen, who have registered a case, are investigating.
