Bantwal, Mar 23: Two gangs from the government first grade college at Vittal fought with each other with wooden pieces and stones on Tuesday March 22. The fight broke out both inside the classroom and on the grounds. Five students suffered injuries in these incidents.
Yogeesh (18) from Kalladka and Muhammed Bilshan (20) from Paivalike, both second year BCom degree students, suffered serious injuries. The injuries suffered by Muhammed Shahid (18) from Goltamajalu, Sinnan (18) from Nelligudde and Sanath (18) from Ermejmajalu are said to be not so serious.
Injured members of one of the gangs got admitted into the community health centre at Vittal, whereas the members of the other gang are being treated at a private hospital at Puttur. In his complaint, injured Muhammed Bishan said that a gang barged into the classroom and beat him up for speaking to a girl student on Monday evening. Yogeesh said in his complaint that verbal altercation between the gangs over dispute relating to cricket match played on Monday had caused friction. He said that his rival gang attacked him and his friends relating to cricket match controversy.
College principal, Shankar Patali Y, said that a complaint about the incidents stand filed at Vittal police station.
