Mangaluru, Mar 22: Addressing a press meet at district BJP office here on Tuesday March 22, BJP president Pratap Simha Nayak said that Dakshina Kannada BJP will hold a public meet from March 25 to April 5. The meet will be held in all 230 gram panchayats of Dakshina Kannada. They will demand the transfer of Kumki land rights to the farmers by the state government.
The party will collect information about Kumki land from the farmers in the district by filling up a form. On seeing the response, there will be a public meet in the future at district level and in the Vidhanasabha constituency. Kumki land rights will be taken up as a major campaign.
Slamming the state government, he added that when BJP was in power it had prepared a draft notification on Kumki rights in favor of the farmers. Let the Congress government implement this draft in the interest of the people. We the BJP do not want any credit for that.
Commenting on sand scarcity, people are coming out on the streets demanding a solution to the problem of sand scarcity in the state. It is the responsibility of the government. The Congress government will wake up and take a decision only when people reach the road demanding justice.
He further stated there are problems of drinking water and power shortage in the entire district. Children and students are affected by the frequent power cuts.
On district in-charge minister Ramanath Rai's claim that he was hurt by the words of Prathap Simha Nayak as stated by the media, Prathap Simha said, "He should not take it personally. I have only raised issues of problems in the district. In a democratic setup it is quite natural. If I have spoken anything other than this issue I regret."
Commenting on the improper administration of the BJP government he said, "Congress is in a coma and is dying."
When asked about the Yethinahole issue, he said that at these gram panchayat public meets, people will be educated on the same.
