Panaji, Sep 29: If anyone thinks that the Kadamba Transport Corporation's shuttle service is the quickest mode of public transport available in the state than just wait. Ask those commuting on Margao-Panaji, Margao-Vasco and Vasco-Panaji routes and you would change your perception.
Long queues, irregular service, corroded buses and uncertainity of reaching the destination on time, all these things are part of the much-hailed shuttle bus service launched by the state-owned Kadamba Transport Corporation.
If you happen to be plying on the nationalized route during peak hour, than be ready to wait for almost one hour in long queues to get your ticket. Than the journey will begin. But it does not assure you of getting dropped at your destination.
Those in Vasco have to face worst situation, for there is no proper bus shelter and commuters have to face monsoon fury and in summers the sun.
The shortage of mini-buses is a bigger problem faced by the corporation. To aggravate the situation, the mini buses are also used to transport school students. Also, the duties like Raj Bhavan are handled by the corporation buses.
The Kadamba Transport Corporation needs to think on all these aspects. Simply nationalizing the routes will not serve the purpose. If they can't serve the people than they should make way for private players to run the buses.
