Panaji, Mar 7 (TOI): BJP Calangute MLA Michael Lobo has asked the government to file the chargesheet against him the alleged coastal regulatory zone (CRZ) no objection certificate (NOC) forgery case.
Lobo informed mediapersons that in all seven FIRs have been filed against him since the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) came to power. He went on to say that the case, which was filed against him in 2010, was politically motivated. He further alleged that it was Calangute MLA Agnelo Fernandes, who saw Lobo as a threat to his political career, who directed that the case be filed against him.
Stating that the person who had filed the case against him and others have already died, he said, that the two letters issued by the Goa coastal zone management authority (GCZMA) state that his property is outside the 500-metre high tide line. "Anyone who questions that my hotel comes within the 500-metre high tide line should come and measure the distance with tape," Lobo said.
He went on to say that the 2006 GCZMA letter is not registered on the outwards register of the office. "When the case was filed, I was a member of the BJP. I contested the zilla panchayat election and was appointed as the Calangute BJP mandal president. Fernandes felt that I was a threat to him. When he learnt that someone had filed the case against me, he immediately told the GCZMA to file the case against me," Lobo said adding that no charge sheet was file since 2010.
"I went personally to the crime branch SP Karthik Kashyap and requested him to file the charge sheet in the case," Lobo said, maintaining that if somebody had done the fraud in the GCZMA office then it is that person who should be booked.
"Why should the businessman be punished for a letter that came from the office of the GCZMA?" Lobo questioned.
Stating that in the election year Fernandes wanted to tarnish his image, he said that this one letter will not do anything.
Lobo alleged that the NOC was issued to Gurunek Mann from whom he had purchased the property. He also said that he has not applied for the NOC.
