Mumbai, March 4 (IANS): A benchmark index of Indian equities markets, the 30-scrip Sensitive Index (Sensex), was trading 25.58 points, or 0.10 percent, higher during the afternoon session on Friday.
The wider 50-scrip Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) was also trading 5.85 points, or 0.08 percent up at 7,481.45 points.
The Sensex of the BSE, which opened at 24,704.59 points, was trading at 24,632.57 points (at 01.02 p.m.) in the afternoon session -- up 25.58 points, or 0.10 percent from the previous day's close at 24,606.99 points.
The Sensex touched a high of 24,719.05 points and a low of 24,531.80 points in the trade so far.
Sector-wise, the S&P BSE metal index gained by 1.83 points, power index moved up by 1.05 percent and basic materials index went up by 0.77 percent, while IT index dropped by 0.67 percent.
