Kasargod, Mar 1: In Mystical Rose Pre-School compound, here on Wednesday February 24, a very positive and inspiring campaign called 'Swachh Bachha' started to realize the dream of 'Swachh Bharat'. In a very pragmatic and rare educational approach, a local youth organization Shiahb Thangal Samskarika Kendram with the school supported by a local women welfare organization called 'Arpita' turned the thought of installing the idea of cleanliness into the clean minds of the children that will bring great results for a clean India campaign tomorrow.
The organizers spearheaded the idea to bring forth the concept of 'Swachh Bachha' campaign as the roadmap to realize the dream of 'Swachh Bharat' through the clean hands of these young toddlers. Rasheed, a local councilor, who is a great advocate of children being the ambassador of the mission, said, “These kids of today will guide and help India become clean by their own clean behaviours and in turn teach society to be clean.”
The 'Swachh Bachha' campaign aims to sensitize the kids who will in turn take care of cleanliness in their home, school and around themselves and perhaps educate others about how to keep their society clean.
Around 200 children of 4 schools including Govt Primary School children from upper KG to class 1 along with the volunteers of 'Shiahb Thangal Samskarika Kendram' and 'Arpita', teachers and principal of Mystical Rose Pre-School participated in the campaign. During this educational program, kids were sensitized about the idea of cleanliness and its importance in our life. The benefits of cleanliness were demonstrated to ward off the fact of dirt that shadows our negative thoughts.
During the programme, some interesting facts and ideas were shared with the kids and their parents to make a small act of cleanliness appreciable and motivating for others to make cleanliness part of the personal life and an act to show society by example. After some formal idea sharing, children were offered food and drinks and they were sensitized on how to use the bins and throw waste in its proper place so that they form the habit of throwing waste in its proper place and do not litter the place around them. They were also taught about washing themselves after food. These were some of the small and fundamental acts that were put forth to sensitize children towards cleanliness.
The principal of Mystical Rose pre-school, Fanita Jennifer Mishra said, “Clean India is a dream of all citizens of the country and each one of us has the responsibility to contribute to the cause of making the country clean. Cleanliness is also a personal choice, however, that can have an influential bearing on individuals to show others and involve them for the cleanliness programme. Who can be the better influential person than the children themselves? Children are the fortune of the future of India. Instilling the idea of cleanliness in them today certainly will have a great impact on tomorrow when they turn into youth.”
Awareness and education campaign have great impact on the society to reform, change and transform into a new society. Where cleanliness is concerned, the fact also reveals that 100 years ago even UK and other European countries were as bad as India today. River Thames seemed to be dirtier than the river Ganges. But what we see today in UK and other parts of Europe is the cleanliness campaign has created an impact among the generations and the result is seen today with stark difference.
That may hold true to any society. And it is never too late to pass on the baton of the cleanliness awareness among the kids as we continue playing our role in society.
Let us take a step ahead and support this campaign by sharing it with others and sensitize other schools and colleges to hold such campaigns.
