Sullia, Feb 27: Hurt at the poor showing of Congress party in the recent zilla and taluk panchayat election both at the taluk level land the district, Sampaje area Congress president, Somashekhar Koingaje, has resigned from his post. He also has announced retirement from active politics.
In a letter addressed to Sullia block Congress president, M Venkappa Gowda, Koingaje explained that he was distressed at the poor performance of the party in the elections. The veteran Congress leader, who recalled that he had ably organized party activities in the area since 18 years, had also once ensured that the party bagged all 12 seats in Sampaje gram panchayat. He has confessed that his failure as a leader had led to the debacle of the party and that he owns moral responsibility for the same.
Koingaje added that he decided to resign to make sure that the party's prospects do not suffer because of ineffective leadership. He also announced that he is retiring from all kinds of active politics.
