New Delhi, Feb 15 (IANS): The World Boxing Association (WBA) would hold a seminar for Indian Boxing Council (IBC) technical officials, supervisors and ringside doctors from February 17 to 19, it was announced on Monday.

The seminar is aimed at equipping Indian officials to officiate at national, Asian and World level Pro Boxing contests. The IBC is affiliated to the WBA, headquartered in Panama City, South America.

The three-day seminar organised by the IBC will be held here in a city hotel.

The international officials for the seminar were nominated by the WBA president Gilberto Jesus Mendoza during the 94th WBA Convention at Panama City recently.

The WBA has nominated international hall of fame referee and judge Stanley Christodoulou, Mariana Borissova and John Fleming to conduct the seminar.

"The Indian Boxing Council is in its infancy and the very fact that the President WBA, Gilberto Mendoza Jr. has appointed 3 world leading figures from the sport of boxing in setting up frameworks in India, gives a clear indication of the potential he sees in Indian Boxing” P.K.M. Raja, president of the IBC said in a release.
