Kundapur, Feb 13:
Kundapur, Feb 13: "The Congress government in the state has indulged in corruption and is playing with the lives of the people. BJP workers should conduct intense campaigns to uproot this thick-skinned, authoritarian government," said former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa.
He was speaking at the zilla panchayat and taluk panchayat election campaigns held in Golihole here on the evening of Thursday February 11.
"The chief minister is not concerned about the farmers or the poor. He is ruling with an arrogance of power. The cabinet has incompetent and corrupt ministers and Congress leaders themselves criticize the government over lack of development. Corruption is rampant in the state. Development has come to a standstill. People curse the Congress government," he said.
"The election manifesto of our party is out. If BJP comes to power, we will release Rs five crore to each taluk panchayat and Rs ten crore to each zilla panchayat in the state," he added.
MLC Kota Srinivas Poojary said, "Our chief minister has no time to console the family of a soldier when the soldier is fighting between life and death. "More than a thousand farmers have committed suicide in the state. The chief minister has no time to boost their morale. This shows his concern towards farmers. The chief minister has given an irresponsible statement that additional compensation to the family of suicide victim will encourage suicides.
"There are 4 lac Kumki land owners in the state. The cabinet of ministers during our tenure had decided to provide 5 acres each for free and additional land rights at the rates fixed by the government. However the term of our government expired before it became a gazetted notification. So it was given up. If the Congress government is concerned about the farmers, let it take action to provide Kumki rights," he challenged.
"During BJP rule, it had released funds for the construction of ports at Alvegadde, Koderi, Maravanthe and Gangolli. However the work is not over. The Congress leaders are threatening that the people should vote
for Congress if the work should be completed. Power is to serve the people and not to show arrogace," he said.
Former MLA K Laxminarayana, constituency president B M Sukumara Shetty, zilla panchayat candidate Shanker Poojary, taluk panchayat candidate B S Suresh Shetty, Vidyavathi Kannantara, Malini K, Sujata Devadiga, BJP leaders Gururaja Gantihole, Deepak Kumar Shetty, Venkata Poojary, Suresh Batwadi, Sadananda, Raghavendra Nempu and Sharath Kumar Shetty were present.
