Father, son arrested for attempting to sell Wadiyar's property

Mysuru, Feb 12: Father and son were arrested for allegedly trying to sell a prime property worth several crores of rupees in city. The property belonged to Wadiyar royal family.

The suspects, Edwin Samuel (53) and his son Sandeep (25) are the persons arrested.

The suspects tried to sell the property by forging the signature of Pramoda Devi Wadiyar, wife of the royal scion late Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar, as per the police at Nazarbad here. The duo had created a fake document of the now-defunct Gunamba Trust building, measuring a length of 150 feet and a width of 130 feet on Dewan’s Road.

The complaint was lodged by trust secretary Anantharaje Urs in November 2015.Pramoda Devi is the chairperson of the trust.

Acting on the complaint, the police traced the issue to the sub-registrar’s office (East) at Kalyangiri. The suspects had entered into an agreement in 2013 to sell the property to four parties.
