Goa: ‘The Magic Mirror ’ to be launched on Feb 14

Goa, Feb 12: The book ‘The Magic Mirror and Other Stories’ a collection of children's short stories by Sanjay Borkar will be released on February 14 at 4.30 pm at Pan Aroma Hotel, Ponda in the city.


Minister for PWD Sudin Dhavalikar, Member of Parliament Adv Narendra Sawaikar, Ponda MLA, Lavu Mamledar, Sanvordem MLA, Ganesh Gaonkar and noted musician Sidhanath Buyao will be present to launch the book.

‘The Magic Mirror and Other Stories’ consists of ten stories, which depicts the problems and vivid facets of village life. Indeed, short stories teach about good morals and right conduct to wards. Borkar has penned these stories with good values and morals, so the young readers achieve their goals with good deeds.

‘The Magic Mirror and Other Stories’ have stories of the princess, kings, farmer, herdsman, snake, eagle and many more.

The main story in the book is about a princess who wants to be more beautiful than any other girl in the world. Her father also supports her in her every stubborn act and one day she lands herself into trouble, when her face turns into that of a cat's. She snatches a Magic Mirror from the village girl, whom she finds more beautiful. But the same Magic Mirror teaches her a good lesson for life.

Borkar is trying to market the book through online shopping sites and has already contacted some of them.

Sanjay Borkar has worked as news correspondent for Konkani, Marathi and English dailies of Goa. At present he is a staff correspondent with The Goan, English daily. Music compositions by him feature in many music albums. Besides this, he has three literature books in Konkani and three music CDs to his credit. 'The Magic Mirror and Other Stories' is the first book by him in English.
