Buenos Aires, Feb 11 (IANS): Spanish tennis star Rafael Nadal met Argentina President Mauricio Macri ahead of his opening match in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Buenos Aires tournament here.
"It was a pleasure to spend a few minutes with Mauricio Macri, Argentina's president. Thank you for making me feel at home," Nadal tweeted on Wednesday, reports Xinhua.
The World No.5 entered Argentina's government building and stayed in the president's office for a few minutes, looking out of one of the traditional balconies.
Even though there were no official declarations from the president, various photos were published showing the former World No.1 with Macri.
Nadal will start his campaign at the Argentina Open on Thursday against Juan Monaco in the second round. The Spaniard will be trying to defend the title he won last year when he defeated Monaco in the final 6-4, 6-1.
It is not the first time that Macri has met Nadal. He met the Spaniard before while he was the Buenos Aires Chief of Government in 2013 and 2015.
