Udupi, Feb 10: Udupi-Chikkamagluru MP Shobha Karandlaje released 18 point-election manifesto for the forthcoming zilla panchayat and taluk panchayat election at BJP town office, on Tuesday, February 9. Yeddyurappa will pay a visit to Byndoor, Kundapur and Udyavar on Friday February 12 in connection with the upcoming elections.
Addressing the gathering, MP Shobha said, “State government should give importance to panchayat raj system. The first phase of fund amount has been released from fourteenth finance commission to panchayats, city municipality and town panchayat.”
Lashing out at the state government, she said, “The Karnataka government has a unique system of conducting election whenever they want. But after BJP came to power in centre, things are going smoothly.”
“Because of a firm stand of Prime Minister Modi, local body elections are being held at right times. The central government will release Rs 15,000 crores for local election bodies which will be spent for election proceedings nationwide.”
“The central government has started work on rural drinking water supply, rural roads, rural drainage, sanitation, rural housing scheme and toilets. Rs two lac crores will be released from the central government to develop rural system.”
“Is the state government utilizing the central government funds properly?” she posed a question.
Speaking about the misuse of government funds, she said, “The department of RDPR has cut off 25% of funds to village panchayat for the electricity due bills.”
“Rural development department ministers deposited the released funds of Rs 3,600 crore in the banks and produced fake certificates on utilization of these funds. So far, no one has taken action against them. There is a systematic conspiracy in these malpractices.”
“The state government renamed Suvarna Gram Yojana as Grameena Vikas Yojana and declared that they will take up 1000 villages under Gram Vikas Yojana. Contrastingly, the state has not released single penny till February for the project.”
“Action plans on panchayat raj system and rural development have not been planned in the state so far. The budged was presented on March 2015 and till January RDPR department have not started any action plan,” complained MP Shobha.
“Congress party has weakened the Lokayukta through imposing many restrictions on them. Now they have murdered Lokayukta institution ruthlessly.”
Nearly 26 candidates have filed nominations and they have identified as A plus in 20 places.
The manifesto comprises construction of cemetery to each village, development of roads and other things.
Thingale Vikramarjuna Hegde, district party president, Uday Kumar Shetty, Shyamala Kundar, Katpady Shankar Poojary,Mattar Ratnakar Hedge and others were present.
