Bengaluru, Feb 6: The high court (HC), on Friday February 5, sought placing of detailed information on proceedings recorded in the state assembly records on the motion to unseat Upa Lokayukta, Justice Subhash Adi.
During the hearing of a case filed by Justice Suibhash Adi, which questioned the decision taken by the state to remove him, the HC found that contrasting statements issued by assembly speaker had been recorded in the assembly website. To make sure whether records of the proceedings in the assembly were altered, the HC passed the above order.
The government, which is already facing embarrassment over the dispute relating to the unseating of the Upa Lokayukta, is likely to face further discomfiture over provision of records sought now.
During the hearing, state advocate general, Madhusudhan R Naik, argued that the speaker is yet to approve the motion which had recommended removal of Justice Adi from his position. He said that some of the points were not properly recorded in the records, as discussion on a different issue was going on in the assembly when the motion to remove Justice Adi was being discussed, and as some opposition leaders were protesting in the well of the house.
