Police confiscate six trucks for illegal sand transportation

Puttur, Feb 5: Uppinangady police, who have taken into possession six trucks which were illegally transporting sand, have registered cases against them. The trucks were confiscated during a raid conducted on Wednesday February 3 night under the guidance of rural police circle inspector, Anil S Kulkarni, and Uppinangady station house officer, Timmappa Naik.

All the six trucks were moving towards Bengaluru when they were stopped. The policemen found that none of them had licence to transport sand. Out of six trucks, one was confiscated from Nelyady, and the balance five from
Nekkilady.

It is said that four of these trucks had been loaded with sand at Panemangalore, while two were carrying sand from Adyar-Kannur. On their way, these trucks had passed through jurisdictions of six police stations without getting caught.
