New Delhi, Jan 24 (IANS): The Badminton Association of India (BAI) congratulated star shuttler P.V. Sindhu for winning the Malaysia Masters Grand Prix and announced a cash reward of Rs.5 lakh for her efforts on Sunday.
Third-seeded Sindhu won the women's singles title with a straight games (21-15, 21-9) victory over Kirsty Gilmour of Scotland in the final in just 32 minutes at the Spice Stadium here on Sunday.
It was Sindhu's second win in Malaysia, having won the title before in 2013.
"I congratulate her for this stupendous win. She won the title in 2013 and this time she was quite keen to achieve the feat again and she did it. I am proud of her and wish her luck to win more such titles in the future," BAI president Akhilesh Das Gupta said in a release.
"This victory comes at a time when winning and being in form is important, keeping the upcoming RIO in mind and I am certain she will be a force to reckon with in the upcoming event."
