Kejriwal inaugurates six-lane elevated road

New Delhi, Jan 18 (IANS): Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday inaugurated a six-lane elevated road which the AAP government claimed to construct at Rs.300 crore -- far less than the sanctioned amount of Rs.425 crore by the Sheila Dikshit regime.

"This construction of this elevated road began during the time of Sheilaji. It was to cost Rs. 425, but the AAP government built it at Rs.300 crore," Kejriwal said, praising the public works department.

The road is between between Mangolpuri to Mukarba Chowk in west Delhi.

Kejriwal said the last year too, the AAP government had completed another six-lane elevated road which was to cost Rs.247 crore but ended up costing only Rs.143 crore.

He said the next week, the government would throw open another road to public whose construction cost has also come down by about Rs.100 crore. The government had calculated a saving of Rs.350 crore which would be used for free medical facilities at hospitals in the capital, he added.
