Mumbai, Dec 30 (Mumbai Mirror): The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Tuesday arrested a senior inspector of the MHB Colony Police Station in Borivali while he was taking Rs 3 lakh as part of the first instalment of a bribe of Rs 4 lakh, which he had allegedly demanded from an employee of a studio.
The cop, Subhash Krishna Chavan, 58, was arrested from near IC Church in Borivali (W). The ACB sources said that the complainant wrote to the agency alleging that the senior inspector had demanded the bribe to not take action against his employer's studio, which was built illegally.
An ACB officer said, "The complainant said that Chavan repeatedly told his boss to show the studio documents. On inspecting the papers, Chavan said that the studio was constructed on an illegal plot. He then offered a deal wherein he said that he would not take any action if the studio owner paid him Rs 4 lakh."
Chavan has been booked under the sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
