Rome, Dec 15 (IANS): AS Roma's CEO Italo Zanzi said his team "will be ready for Real Madrid and Cristiano Ronaldo," after the Italian football club was drawn against the Spanish giants in the round of 16 stage of the European Champions League.
"We have respect for everyone but we fear no one," Efe quoted Zanzi as saying after the draw on Monday.
"At this level every opponent is difficult. We have respect for everyone but we fear no one. We maintain the same confidence in Serie A and in the Champions League," Zanzi added.
However, head coach Rudi Garcia said Real will be the favourites.
Garcia explained that when both teams face each other in February, Roma will be "ready to give everything" in the tie against the Spanish club.
"Real Madrid will be favourites. We faced Barcelona in the group stage and now Real Madrid, but we are in the Champions League for this reason," he said in comments reported by the official website of UEFA.
"All the lads are ready and looking forward to this game," Garcia added.
The first legs of the round of 16 matches will be played on February 16-17 and 23-24, followed by the return leg on March 8-9 and 15-16. The final of the tournament will be played at the San Siro stadium in Milan on May 28.
