London, Dec 10 (IANS) English football club Swansea City has announced the dismissal of coach Garry Monk over poor results, and around two years after he assumed command as the successor of Danish coach Michael Laudrup.
"Swansea City has reluctantly parted company with manager Garry Monk. With the recent uncertainty surrounding the club, the decision has been made in the best interests of Swansea City Football Club and its supporters," the club announced on its website on Wednesday.
Swansea City chairman Huw Jenkins said" "To find ourselves in our current situation from where we were in the first week of September, and considering the drop of performance levels and run of results over the last three months, it has brought us to this unfortunate decision today."
Swansea currently hold the 15th position on the table of the English Premier League (EPL) with 14 points, and one point ahead of the relegation zone. Meanwhile, the team was eliminated from the Capital One's first round against Championship side Hull City.
