'Put competent officers on job to nab Kalburgi's killers'

Bengaluru, Nov 17 (DHNS): Leader of the Opposition in Legislative Assembly, Jagadish Shettar, on Monday demanded that highly competent officers be put on the job immediately to apprehend the killers of scholar M M Kalburgi.

Condoling the death of Kalburgi during the obituary reference on the opening day of the winter session in the Assembly, Shettar said though the scholar’s death was being debated worldwide, it was ironic that the government was yet to nab the culprits. It is also condemnable that not even a single clue had emerged about the murder so far, he said.

Shettar said it was wrong on the part of public personalities to return their awards in the name of Kalburgi’s death. He said the same individuals had remained oblivious when activists/ rationalists like Narendra Dabholkar and Govind Pansare were shot dead in a similar fashion in Maharashtra. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said Kalburgi’s death had come as a shock and that the government was making concerted efforts to apprehend the attackers. He said Kalburgi had an appreciable scientific temper, which had unfortunately claimed his life.
