Panaji, Aug 12: Goan musician of repute Orlando de Noronha was presented a Portuguese guitar by the President of Portugal Dr Anibal Cavaco Silva at an exclusive ceremony in Portugal, according to the Portuguese Presidential website.
Musician Orlando de Noronha being presented the Portuguese guitar by President of Portugal Dr Anibal Cavaco Silva in the presence of renowned fado singer Katia Guerreiro.
The ceremony, Encontro dos Notaveis, was held at the Museu do Trabalho at Setubal and was attended by numerous dignitaries including the internationally renowned Portuguese fado singer Katia Guerreiro, President of Banco BIG Dr. Carlos Rodrigues, Chelsea coach Jose Mourinho, singer Dulce Pontes and others.
Highly impressed with Orlando's musical performance with Katia Guerreiro during the Portuguese Presidential visit to India, the latter took the initiative along with the Portuguese Presidential office to specially invite Orlando to Portugal for the handover.
According to a Portuguese-language website, Orlando is also credited with introducing the art of azulejos (Portuguese hand-painted tiles) in Goa, having trained himself in the same a few years ago in Portugal.
