Shettar demands minister's resignation

Koppal, Nov 7 (DHNS): Former chief minister and leader of the Opposition in the legislative assembly, Jagadish Shettar, has demanded the resignation of Social Welfare Minister H Anjaneya in the wake of corruption charges against him.

Addressing reporters here on Friday, Shettar said the minister was denying the charges though the whole episode of his wife accepting a bribe of Rs seven lakh for awarding a contract for supply of food items to students’ hostels had been recored on camera. Previously, there were charges of irregularities in the purchase of mattresses and pillows.

“Despite these incidents, the minister says there is a conspiracy to unseat him. Either the minister should resign or the chief minister should drop him from the Cabinet,” Shettar said.

He also sought a probe into the scam by a High Court judge. Shettar said it was unfortunate that the chief minister had continued Shivaraj Tangadagi in the Cabinet. He said Tangadagi had not been discharging his responsibilities as the Koppal district in-charge minister and he should be dropped from the council of ministers. He also sought to know why the government was not suspending Kapil Mohan, the Principal Secretary to Sports and Youth Empowerment department, who has been facing charges of amassing wealth improperly.

There were demands earlier on to some of BJP leaders to resign\ when controversies were going on. Did BJP take actions? Did they them or asked them to resign? Then what right the opposition leader BJP in Karnataka has the right to demand such actions?
All guilty should be punished and if found the wife of Minister here guilty of graft, she should be taken to task after the investigations\case is over.
Also the sting operators should be arrested for offering bribe!!!! They are the real culprits trying to spoil\corrupt people by offering bribes which is very tempting to many even when character is good.
