Karkala, Nov 3: An under-trial named Eshwar alias Veeramani alias Vajramuni alias Shankarappa (55), who was brought to the court on Monday November 2 for attending a hearing, raised slogans like 'Naxal Zindabad, we are patriots and savious of Malnad'.
Eshwar, who had been arrested from Tamil Nadu and was accompanied by policemen escorting him, raised the slogans when entering the court. He also shouted slogans like 'long live Maoist movement, may patriot naxals live long,' when entering the court building and again, when coming out of it.
Eshwar has been accused of getting involved with naxal movement in Malnad region here. He had been arrested in Tamil Nadu during may this year relating to a case there. He has been accused of involvement with murder of a teacher named Bhoja Shetty from Nadpalu village near Hebri and a farmer named Suresh Shetty in 2008. 11 naxals including Eshwar have been charged with this double murder. Five persons have already been arrested in this case, while one of the accused has died.
Immediately after the murder, naxals had claimed that they were behind the said murders, and justified their acts, duly accusing Bhoja Shetty of being a police informer.
Eshwar, after being produced in the court here, was handed over to the custody of criminal investigation department for two days at their request.
