Mangalore, Aug 6: Association of Mangalore University College Teachers (AMUCT) condemns the recent developments in SMS College, Bramhavar and Sri Narayana Guru College here. These are “exploitations by the college managements on teachers”, said Prof Jocelyn T Lobo, president of AMUCT in the press conference here recently.
 
A M Narahari, president of state federation said that the offence committed by Prof Emmanuel which resulted in the dismissal should be made clear.
 
Pointing out the dismissal of Shakuntala, Narahari added that it is the height of the exploitation and the gravity of the offence. He termed the phenomenon "in human and derogatory treatment meted out to a woman lecturer."
 
Detailing on how the association would take the fight forward against the infavourable steps taken by the government that would impact upon teachers, Narahari briefed that a protest would be staged on Saturday August 18 at the premises of Mangalore University. The similar protest will be staged in Bangalore on Sunday September 2 to draw the attention of the state government towards the tough way teachers are going through.
 
Prof Umappa Poojari, general secretary said that the association completely opposes diversion of the Nethravathi River, as the diversion will disturb the ecological balance and create unnecessary problems.
 
Prof Mohit Suvarna was also present at the press meet.
