Panaji, Aug 6: The sea is rough in Goa, so also is the politics. What we have seen during last few days was unexpected. Though not unexpected from Goan politicians, by and large, these things are not expected in the political system where people vote for their representatives.

Within 50 days, the political equations have changed. Friends turned into foes and foes into friends. No sensible mind can understand the logic behind this political somersaults.

Let’s not go into whether Manohar Parrikar, BJP’s face for chief ministerial candidate, did a wise thing by aligning with the forces like Atanasio Monserratte whom he has been castigating all this while. The fact remains that the politics in Goa has gone to the gutter level.

The voters have become insensitive. Elections and by-elections have become an opportunity for the common man to earn more money. A reputable politician was quoted by a local English daily as stating that he was offered Rs 20 crore to switch over to other side.

This politician may be true in his statement or may just be raking up some dust to get some mileage, but the fact remains that large amount of money is being talked about in Goa’s politics.

The politics is getting murkier by each day and now it’s for the Goans to think twice before casting their votes next time.

Shiv Kumar wrote in The Tribune in 2005 : Little wonder that Goa has one Chief Minister and five former Chief Ministers in public life despite having just 40 seats in the single-tier assembly. And with 15 CMs in 15 years it is clear that everyone will be served at the high table! And we know how many will be added by 2007! May God bless the Goan voters!!!

All the ministers who are really demanding for specific ministerial berth are only selfish and do not think how they came in power. They have no shame and are not totally fit.

Mr.Paul, Congratulation for exposing MLAs of Goa. Goan Politics has become puppet show worldwide. When we talk about Goan politics to any of our friends here they immediately start laughing. How shameful it is for goans.

I would like to add few things on Goan MLAs they are thirsty of their own pockets they are least bothered of Goans welfare, they are hungry of posts/position where they get lucrative returns. However, Goans should give them hard punishment by not entertaining such MLAs for following elections, and party which they representing also should take stiff action on them. and ban them to switch over the party.

In your message you have rightly explained the scenario and they should seriously consider to change themselves for betterment of voters.

The present coup leaders will not only sell GOA but will also sell their mothers, wifes and daughters for money and power. They don't love Goa,Goans and Konkani. Goa,Goans and Konkani is their profession.

Mr. Paul, you have excellent points here. Don’t think I am in Goa. But Goan politics I am watching in WWW sites. Sometimes I wonder how this Goa is administered and how the people of Goa live there. Goa was under president rule for quite some time. But now the local leaders manage it.

All leaders of Goa are efficient and smart. Who is smarter and smartest we have yet to see. Goan Catholics are also smarter than Mangalorean Catholics. My personal feelings. Churchill long time ago had said ‘Oh you church leaders keep out of politics’ I had some friends from Goa in the olden days. I used to talk to them Goan politics. They used come closer to me. Wanted to know what is in my mind. We were all friends.

I went to Goa only once with my family. May be 20 years ago. ‘Lingisam’ was my favorite. Next was Goa Fenny. I had enough. Lot I carried to Mangalore. Dona Paula and calangute all I saw there. Many Hippies come to Goa. French and German and many other nationalities. Some of them I met at Calangute beach. French and Portugal ancestors are very much in Goa. Mangaloreans are not less. Our best Konkani speakers and Film producers are from Goa. Goan Konkani songs are very meaningful. In Goan politics everybody wants to sit in the front bench. That is a sad part of it.

Nice commentary on the sorry state of affairs in goa. Just when people thought they received a stable government, came the BJP's shameless quest for power, fuelled by large amounts of money. It's time the people of Goa got rid of small-time politicians whose only aim is to make money at the expense of people.

Open Letter to Goan MLA's BY THE GULF GOANS.. To all our esteemed MLA's who are supposed to be running the state of goa You people should be ashamed of urselves. You were elected to ensure prosperity of the state of Goa not to ensure and help you increase your personal bank balances.

WE have a few questions for all of you

    1. Why is mrs victoria fernandes so interested in becoming a minister or the head of a major corporation? she was deputy speaker for a long time what exactly did she do for the people of Goa? her constituency still does nor have its own police station, there is no garbage disposal system(something very basic). In the 47 days she has been MLA she has spent it going on hunger strike like a spoiled child who hasnt got her toys. so what difference does it make if she is a minister or not ? or are we more interested in her own happines rather than the state of Goa?

    2. How Mr Manohar Parrikar suddenly finds his soulmate in Mr Monserrate? wasn't it Mr Parrikar who said he had a big FILE on Mr Monserrate? Isn't Mr Monserrate the one who pulled his government down? how come the same man who says the Congress plays dirty tricks is doing the same thing today? something smells very fishy Mr Parrikar.

    3. Why exactly is Mr Dhavlikar so interested in being PWD Minister? What is so appealing to him there? the people of Goa still dont have proper water supply Mr Dhavlikar!!! the people of Goa still dont have proper sewage treatment plants Mr Dhavlikar!! do the job the way its supposed to be done first before demanding to be made PWD minister. Show some results then talk !!!

    4. What is the point of having so many ministers when even the very basic jobs they are supposed to do arent being done?? who pays your salaries may I ask?

    5. People of Goa ask yourselves this one question : why are these people so interested in being Ministers especially of the portfolios they demand when none of their ministries have delivered what they are supposed to in the last twenty years?

    6. HOW MANY MORE CHIEF MINISTERS WILL WE HAVE ?????

    7. In the last twenty years how much of taxes have been spent on elections and misnisters salaries and perks????

TO all 40 MLA's this is a peoples demand RESIGN QUIT POLITICS NOW!!! you have failed to do your jobs .
