Kasargod, Oct 29: The policemen led one of the main accused in the robbery at Eriyal branch of Kudlu Serviec Cooperative Bank, Mujeeb, to various spots including the bank to reconstruct the turn of events relating to the robbery. The policemen led by police circle inspector, Sudhakaran, accompanied the accused to different spots.

After visiting the bank, Mujeeb was taken to a spot near the railway tracks at Chowki Kallangai, where the ornaments had been found buried. Mujeeb told the police that by the time he returned there to collect the buried gold ornaments ten days later, he found it hard to find the spot as the trees standing in the area had been cut off for electrification of the railway line. He said with great difficulty, he identified the spot with the help of the milestone set up by the railways.

At this spot, the rope prepared out of clothes for use in case of need to tie up bank staff, was found to have been torn into pieces and disposed off. Two masks made of black clothes used to conceal the faces of robbers and two black Lungis were also found there.

A motor bike had been concealed behind bushes by Mujeeb, who was said to be accompanied by another main accused, Jomon, near this area. From here, they had walked to Kallangai. They escaped to Mangaluru thereafter. A few days later they came back to Kallangai, recovered the buried ornaments and went to Virajpet where they lived till being found and arrested, Mujeeb said.

When Mujeeb was produced before them, bank staff were shocked to find that the person who had threatened them with knife during the robbery a few weeks back was standing in front of them again.
