Kolkata, Oct 28 (IANS): Atletico de Kolkata (ATK) forward Iain Hume, who now has to play as a striker in the absence of marquee player Helder Postiga, on Wednesday said he is adaptable and open to playing at any position if need be in the Indian Super League (ISL).
Hume has mostly played as a feeder but after the departure of Postiga he has taken it upon himself to score goals too, but so far he has not been successful.
"I am adaptable and can play in any position where I can do the job for my time. It gives me a lot of confidence that I have been able to start in all the matches. Hoping for a good game tomorrow (against Delhi Dynamos)," Hume said at the pre-match conference.
On why he has not been able to score still now, Hume, who had five goals and three assists for Kerala Blasters last year, said "I'm getting chances but unfortunately I have just not found the back of the net yet. Sometimes these things happen in football.
“My job is to score goals and I am doing the next best thing possible which is to set up goals," the 32-year-old added.
“But not scoring till now is not a worry for me as the league has still a long way to go. If at the end of the season I have zero goals then I’l be worried. It is about progressing and working hard."
Speaking about filling in the shoes of Postiga, the Canadian international said "He (Postiga) is someone who is very hard to replace. He makes the job a lot easier but I am happy playing as No.2 or the main forward."
