Udupi, Aug 6: The Shirva branch of Syndicate Bank recently organized Synd Vidya and Synd Vidyarthi Awareness programmes at two Colleges in Shirva, namely MSRS College and St Mary's College.
Synd Vidya and Synd Vidyarthi are the two educational loan products of Syndicate Bank and the objective of arranging this campaign was to create awareness amongst the students of the financial assistance available from the bank to them for pursuing higher studies .
The salient features of both the schemes and the eligibility criteria were explained by senior branch manager Marian D’Souza and the students were urged to avail themselves of the same and take advantage of the liberal credit extended by the bank.
Another highlight of the programme was that top achievers from both the colleges were identified and felicitated by the Branch by presenting useful study material.
Vasant Nayak, assistant general manager at the bank Udupi regional office, was the chief guest at the programme at MSRS. College, while principal Prof Y Bhaskar Shetty presided over it. Over 150 students from the degree college and Hindu Junior College attended .
Bank's Udupi regional office deputy general manager K Devanand Upadhyaya was the chief guest at St Mary's College, Shirva, with college principal Fr John A Barboza presided over the programme.
St Mary's institutions' correspondent Fr Valerian Pinto inaugurated the programme in a symbolic way by handing over a loan sanction letter to one of the students of the college, Neema Rai.
Fr John A Barboza, who was due to retire at July-end as principal, was felicitated on behalf of the bank on the occasion by DGM Devanand Upadhyaya. St Mary's Junior College principal Felix Andrade was also present. Over 200 students from the St Mary’s College and St Mary’s Junior College Shirva attended the programme.
