Moscow, Oct 27 (IANS): The Russian Football Union has announced that the country will face Portugal in a friendly match on November 13 in London.
The match will be played at the Craven Cottage stadium, ground of Fulham FC, taking advantage of the English Premier League (EPL) pause for the Euro 2016 play-offs on November 14 and 17, Efe reported on Monday.
Russia are a team that brings back bad memories to the Portuguese group, when the Russian football team Sbornaya forced Portugal to the play-offs to qualify for the FIFA World Cup in Brazil after a 0-1 defeat in Moscow. Then, the Russian team was trained in 2012 by Italian Fabio Capello.
Now the Russian team is managed by Leonid Slutsky, who worked a miracle and helped the national team to qualify for Euro 2016 in France next summer with a four-win streak after the resignation of Capello.
