Udupi, Oct 27: Karnataka Forest Tribal Community Union and Koraga Abhivruddhi Sangagala Okkoota members started two days of day-night dharna in front of DC office, Rajathadri Manipal here on Monday, October 26.
Sushikala the president of district Koraga Abhivruddhi Sangagala Okkoota committee said that out of the funds earmarked for health scheme for tribals, vehicles were bought for three primary health centres in Vandse, Perdur and Byndoor.
She also said "Government releases crores of rupees for the development of tribal community. The education department should think about tuition centers for tribal community children. It should appoint councilor at each taluk level. Education department should be made acountable in child welfare matters. ITDP bears all the expenses of Koraga community health check-ups. The facility should be available in all district private hospitals. Government should reserve additional fund Rs 2 crore for it and should facilitate smart cards for all members of the community. If the district authority did not respond favourably, we will go for hunger strike from Monday, November 1."
Ranga Koraga, Girija Jannady, Ammanni Chorady, Bhoja Koraga and others were present.
