Puttur, Aug 4: The Puttur police taking up a socially relevant issue started an intensive drive, by launching ‘Operation Clean-up’, to detect illegal LPG cylinders here, on Thursday August 2.
A team of over 60 strong members drawn from the RTO, Food and Civil Supplies and Revenue Departments were mobilized by the Puttur ASP Dr Harsha.
They took position in about 50 points in the city, the team intercepted a whopping 350 vehicles. The police have till date slapped 50 cases of illegal usage of LPG cylinders and collected a fine of Rs 22,900, stated informed sources.
