Sullia: Cave surfaces when levelling land, baffles owner

Daijiworld Media Network - Sullia (SP)

Sullia, Oct 26: A person who was levelling land at Kumbalacheri in Peraje village in the taluk has become confounded, as a cave has surfaced from beneath the earth all of a sudden. He is now unable to continue with his ambition of constructing house.

Hoddetti Pundareeka from Kambalacheri had got the house site located by the side of Kambalacheri Road levelled with the help of a backhoe. But by the time the work was coming a close, the workers noticed that the tipper that had been making trips to carry excavated sand got buried inside mud. A proper search thereafter revealed that a huge cave was located beneath the site. The workers then started pouring sand into the cave, but sand gets slipping into the cave continuously, without filling it.

Some locals felt that the cave was created because of the fact that a treasure that had been buried inside earth in the past had got sucked into the earth, creating a hollow cavity in the bargain. Some others claimed that it was a cave leading to the Daivasthana of Bainati, which was being worshipped till sometime back.
