Mangaluru, Oct 25: In a hit-and-run case which occurred at Kodakkal near Padil here on Saturday October 23, a scooter rider was killed. The vehicle which caused the accident sped away without caring to attend to the injured victim.
The deceased has been identified as Prabhakar Kanduka, a retired policeman.
Prabhakar had served the armed reserve police force in the city in the capacity of head constable. He had retired during January last. He is survived by wife, a son, and two daughters.
Prabhakar, who had visited the city for some work in his scooter from his native place at Melkar near Bantwal, was returning home when a vehicle which came from behind at tremendous speed knocked him down.
The scooter rider, who had sustained grievous injuries, was admitted into a hospital by an auto rickshaw driver who saw him writhing in a pool of blood sometime after the accident.
A case was registered about the accident in the rural police station here. Personnel attached to traffic (east) police station here have taken up investigation.
