Hubballi, Oct 25: Aroor Laxman Shet (68), a noted writer, columnist, and president of Akshara Sahitya Vedike, breathed his last on the night of Friday October 23. He had been suffering from cancer.
Shet had retired as an officer of Syndicate bank. He had written over 600 short stories and 1,500 articles on varied subjects. His forte included introduction of people who did social service secretly, without getting noticed, by writing about them, and thereby inspiring them in the activity further.
Two collections of short stories and two collections of poems penned by Shet have been released. His latest work to have been published was 'Tick Tick Geleya Tick Tick Tick'.
Shet's health worsened after his wife died last year. He is survived by a son and a daughter. His funeral was performed at the graveyard in the city on Saturday October 24.
