Bengaluru, Oct 24: Two mothers, one from Hassan, and another from Mandya, were murdered by their own children, because of their opposition to the liquor addiction of the children.
In an incident which occurred at Sakleshpur in Hassan district on Friday October 23, a youth, who was enraged at the fact that his mother objected to his indulgence with liquor in a party he has hosted for his friends, killed her. Ramesh from Halagathur village near Sakleshpur, who was working for a bakery at Bengaluru, had come home on holiday for Ayudha Puja. He had taken part in a liquor party hosted during this visit at his native place with his friends. When his mother, Kenchamma (60), wife of Mallesh, raised objection to this, he hit his mother's head with a cudgel, resulting in her instant death.
In the other case reported from Sasalukoppalu in K R Pet taluk of Mandya district, a youth murdered his mother, who was reluctant to give him money for liquor. Manje Gowda, son of Ningamma (75), had demanded money from his mother for buying liquor. When she refused, he beat her up indiscriminately, before taking up an iron rod and attacking her again. She collapsed on the spot and lost her life there.
