Bengaluru, Oct 22: The two persons – Madhu and Harish Babu – accused in the murder of Doddaballpur Sub-Inspector of Pollice S Jagadish in Nelamangala have been remanded to police custody for 14 days by a judge in Bengaluru on Thursday.
The two accused, who were arrested in Nagpur in Nagpur on Monday were brought by flight on Wednesday night and later taken to Nelamangala for questioning.
Police had a tough time in escorting the accused before the Judicial Magistrate First Class at his residence in Nelamangala in view of the public holiday on Thursday as a large crowd of nearly 200 people had gathered outside the judge’s residence demanding that the accused be handed over to them so that they could ``ensure proper justice.’’
The Doddaballapur SI Jagadish was stabbed by the accused on October 16 when he chased them on suspicion of being involved in robbery.
The stabbing incident and the death of the SI led to a public outrage and announcement of special compensation of Rs 50 lakh by the State government.
The deceased SI was cremated in Malapura village about 40 kms from Nelamangala as per the traditions of the Kuruba community.
